Denialism, Galileo and the “truth”.
The Scottish peer Lord Monckton has been raising hell against the carbon tax in barnstorming rallies and public meetings around the country. But just who is Lord Monckton and who are the forces behind him? Chief amongst them a mysterious group called the Galileo Movement and mining magnate and now media player Gina Rinehart. Reporter Wendy Carlisle
From ABC Background Briefing. This is quite extraordinary. Galileo must be rolling in his grave. Have a listen.

I think you’ll find Brenchley (the village/parish of which he is Viscount) is in Kent. Which is around 400 miles to the south of Scotland. In any case, Scottish or English it is probably more accurate to refer to him as a British peer. Any which way you cut it, he’s quite the embarrassment.
Just so he can’t continue misrepresenting his position this was published on the UK Parliamlent website: http://www.parliament.uk/business/news/2011/july/letter-to-viscount-monckton/Dear Lord Monckton
My predecessor, Sir Michael Pownall, wrote to you on 21 July 2010, and again on 30 July 2010, asking that you cease claiming to be a Member of the House of Lords, either directly or by implication. It has been drawn to my attention that you continue to make such claims.
In particular, I have listened to your recent interview with Mr Adam Spencer on Australian radio. In response to the direct question, whether or not you were a Member of the House of Lords, you said “Yes, but without the right to sit or vote”. You later repeated, “I am a Member of the House”.
I must repeat my predecessor’s statement that you are not and have never been a Member of the House of Lords…
I see the house of lords has written an open letter to Monckton stating unequivocally that he is NOT a member of the house of lords like he says he is.
Liar & denier for hire.
Apologies, i forgot the link.
